Which brings me to Melissa Stoller's debut picture book, Scarlet's Magic Paintbrush. Since then, I have learned "thanks" in several languages, an important word to know and an important emotion to express. "That means 'Thanks.'" There's no better word she could have taught me. When I was a little girl, I asked Grandma to teach me something in Danish. My great-grandparents came from Denmark, and my grandma spoke Danish with her women friends throughout her life. This book makes me think of my own heritage. The colorful artwork shows modern Cherokee people, not caricatures or stereotypes of long-ago Native Americans. This focus gives us non-Cherokees a peek into a different culture, leading to conversations about similarities and differences. Sorrell and illustrator Frané Lessac take us through a year with Cherokee people, showing us the things for which they are grateful, teaching Cherokee words along the way. That is the premise behind Traci Sorrell's new award-winning picture book, We Are Grateful. This book was just named a National Council of Teachers of English Orbis Pictus Honor Book (non-fiction award) for 2019! Many of us realize that we should give thanks year 'round, not for only one day. Is anyone at GOTO actually listening to these complaints? I’ve yet to see a single review that wasn’t appalled by the new version and getting ready to change apps. This week in the United States, we emphasize giving thanks. I downloaded the computer version, which still looks the way the old phone one did, but I much preferred playing it on my phone. I really do find the update of this app unplayable. Just updating this review because I thought I would receive a response that actually reflected the seriousness of my complaint. this app has a beautiful, clear, simple interface- why would they do this? I’m seriously getting a headache after playing on the new screen one time. All the new added features are also annoying intrusions onto the experience. However, today I updated it and the new version is SO BAD that I seriously may have to stop playing! It is really hard on the eyes! There is something about the way it’s lit that makes it almost unbearable to look at on my phone. It is one of my favorite little moments of relaxation. I play this app every day (multiple games) and have for a few years. Update: has improved somewhat but still not random. Why does No Fun Bridge go out of their way to do this to you? Don't say you weren't warned. And there you go, you just wasted money to play a lousy hand with bad breaks. Good contracts that make most of the time don't make here because the normal laws of probability don't apply. I have played way, way too much real bridge, and know this is NOT random probability. FunBridge also cheats - when you defend the declarer will not take a losing finesse when it is logical to do so, and plays a suit the wrong way instead, except as the cards lie it works. And I am getting really tired of the defense coming up with the magic singleton opposite an Ace to beat otherwise good contracts. Play for the stiff King, that at least works some of the time. OK that is an exaggeration, since it is actually offside 100% of the time. If you have AQ the King is offside 99% of the time. The key finesse is always off, trumps don't break, etc. FunBridge is ruined because deals are not random.
